In partnership with the Boulder Mountain Bike Alliance, Oskar Blues will present Lyons’ first Adventure Film Night, starting at 7p.m. Saturday, March 22. The event includes a series of outdoor films, a raffle and auction of some great outdoor gear, and an evening of dancing to the rock nouveau band, Rue Vital, featuring the founding members of Meniskus. All funds raised will go to the Lyons Parks & Rec department to rebuild local trails destroyed during the September floods.
“The St. Vrain Corridor Trail was completely devastated by floodwaters, severing an integral vein through Lyons utilized by thousands of Front Range recreationists,” stated Parks Director Dave Cosgrove. “We’re thrilled that the Boulder Mountain Bike Alliance and Oskar Blues are will to help us raise funds to rebuild this essential system of trails.”
The rebuilding and expansion of the St. Vrain Corridor Trail will ensure safe passage for cyclists from Boulder, Longmont, and elsewhere to Lyons area open spaces. Hikers, kayakers, picnickers, and local residents also regularly utilized these trails to access parks, neighborhoods, and downtown Lyons.
“These trails are the lifeblood of Lyons,” stated Oskar Blues Marketing Director Chad Melis. “Through CAN’d Aid Foundation we raised over $500,000 and distributed funds to help area businesses, individuals and organizations. Lyons’ parks and trails are also integral to the business environment, so this is another way to support local shops and restaurants.”
Tickets at the door are $10, but additional donations are encouraged (give until it hurts!). All of the night’s proceeds will go to Lyons Parks and Recreation to help staff tackle the staggering damage to our local parks and trails as a result of last September’s flooding. All funds will be channeled through CAN’d Aid, plus Oskar Blues is donating the use of its facilities and staff for the fundraiser.
